Title: Silent No More
Submitted by: JJ of Boerne, TX
Mailed on: 12/12/07
Mailed to: Senator John Cornyn, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Representative Lamar Smith

Respected Senator Cornyn,

For too long I have remained dismayed but silent concerning the disgrace of an American president and vice-president who have been lying through their teeth to us the American people.  I believe they initiated a hateful war under false pretenses and they continue deceiving us.  I have been hoping for years that our constitutional system of checks and balances would restrain their contemptuous disregard for the legislative and judicial branches of our government, but I do not see the Congress pushing back as it should or the Courts pushing back as they should.

Probably the Legislative Branch, of which you are a part, has been waiting for direction from the silent majority, we the people.  We the majority of Americans have been too passive, lacking courage, waiting for someone else to take the initiative, someone else to risk speaking out, as if in a bad dream, helplessly waiting to wake up.  But recently with the release of the NIE report exposing the arrogant, utter duplicity of these two criminals in high office, I feel an urgent need to speak up at last and let you know how I feel about this.  I believe the majority of Americans are with me.

The president and vice-president are petty warmongers full of hatred for other people in this planet which we all have to share. They continue to  ignore the will of the people.  If the Legislative Branch of which you are a part will not take action to impeach them and remove them from office immediately, I fear they will try to fabricate some kind of crisis to dissolve the Congress and assume powers of Hitler, leading to the Second American Civil War.

I support impeaching both of them, even now near the end of their terms.  They are blameworthy and dangerous.  They must be stopped.  They are threatening our democratic heritage domestically and they have made our country contemptible in the eyes of the rest of the world.  They should be impeached and the world should see that we Americans do not support the immoral, unjustified, unlawful invasion of another country with the killing and torture of thousands of civilians.

Please remember how our founding fathers, the courageous signers of our Declaration of Independence, resolved to overthrow tyranny and bravely pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor.

Respectfully,

JJ

Title: the real threat to America
Submitted by: CA from CA
Mailed on: 12/10/07
Mailed to: Nancy Pelosi

dear miss Nancy Pelosi

I am writing you because I understand there is an effort under way to impeach the president and vice president. Many lies have been passed by the American people. We where apathetic after the Clinton presidency and we where in morning after the 9/11 attacks but we are waking up and we need the  people who are sworn to represent our interests to do there job and stand up for us. This new development with the inelegance report and the realization that president Bush and or at least Cheney knew that Iran had halted its weapons program in 2003 and knew that this was reliable info but still chose to vilify Iran shows clearly that they have no respect for truth or any other such morals that they preach and that they have no respect for America. Who or what do they respect? I think if anything Iran should be afraid of us. Though if the American people need something to be scared about let them be scared of the Christians in there own country. If we are fighting a "war on terror" like they say than we would seek to calm the forces that inspire such extreme actions. Theses are blind faith, delusion, self righteousness to name a few. We find this fostered by extremist cult followers like  Muslims but also Christians. look at the Salem witch trials, the klu klux klan, the Spanish inquisition. Couldn't those be considered terrorist groups. I think that we can look at the kind of conflict that has been going on in the middle east for hundreds of years and see that these are religious wars and that we shouldn't let ourselves get swept up in that. if we really stand for peace and freedom we need to send a message to the evangelicals and others who seek to dissolve our democratic country and raise there own flag. and we need to send a message of empowerment to the rest of America. we do control our country, we are free. that is why I ask you to please help impeach Bush and Cheney.

Title: 5 Things To Do
Submitted by: EB of Lakewood, WA

"Allow the president to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such a purpose - and you allow him to make war at pleasure." -Abraham Lincoln

Dear Senator,

I want you to know, as an American citizen, that I am disgusted with the current conduct of the United States Government. The "war on terror" has created instability instead of security. The world is not safer due to America's actions, and in fact many things are worse.

As a Senator of the United States of America you are the "check and balance". I would incite you to nullify the policies of the current administration and change direction to reestablish America's prestige. If America want's to be a beacon of freedom we must do it through thoughtful engagement instead of barbarism.

You are my voice. Listen carefully.

I want America to do five things in the next 9 months:

1. Establish a "true" coalition of United Nations and Arab Alliances to protect and stabilize Afghanistan and Iraq.

2. Draw down American troops and replace them with an Arab Alliance of peacekeepers in Afghanistan and Iraq.

3. Implement the recommendations from the 9/11 Commission to protect the homeland.

4. Implement the recommendations from the Iraq Commission to protect America and its allies in the Middle East.

5. Impeach George Walker Bush and Richard Bruce Cheney.

James Madison clearly explained your duty as, "first to protect the people against their rulers [and] secondly to protect the people against the transient impressions into which they themselves might be led". I deeply hope you will act upon this letter.

Sincerely,
EB
Lakewood, Washington
